Dennis Palumbo - The Writer's Path: Negotiating the Perils and Promise of the Writing Life
There are so many new books coming out on the subject of pet loss and bereavement, but Three Cats, Two Dogs is different. The author's experience and poignant presentation is reminiscent of the fabled Phoenix, rising from its own ashes. We discover how the tragedy expressed here is overwhelming, but endurable. And through this we also learn to recognize and learn so much about ourselves. The monumental message given is that we can survive such terrible loss without allowing ourselves to be destroyed.

Everyone who has loved an animal has also experienced the pain of loss. But few have known the trauma of losing an entire family of pets in a single, tragic, disaster. David Congalton does more than share his grief. He celebrates their lives, and mourns their passing. One gets the feeling he has exorcised a demon or two in the telling. We trace the tracks his animal companions left on his heart as he recounts the miracles they worked in his life. For anyone who still harbors unshed tears for small lives lost, this is a cathartic read.
