To walk a street is to be told a story. Blue Moon
over Thurman Street weaves a narrative of a particular street that
reflects an American way of life. For more than twenty-five years,
Ursula K. Le Guin has walked up and down Thurman Street in Portland,
Oregon, listening to its story. In the mid-80s, she enlisted the
creative talents of photographer Roger Dorband, and they collaborated
to create this book. This is a story of vigor and variety
of aspect and season, of motion and intention, of building and decaying,
of business and loitering, the lonesomeness and the sociability,
the life of the street.
Includes poetry, narrative, and photographs.
